Competition

Currently I am 8 days out of competition. Tonight’s training session will be my final Max Out Friday before competition day. My last chance to feel confident and remind my body what it feels like to have heavy weight overhead.

The last time I competed in an Ontario Weightlifting Competition was in March and that familiar feeling is beginning to overtake me again. My senses are heightened, my nutrition is dialed in, my training is more focused. My head is filled with numbers. Attempt 1, 2, 3. What if this or that happens? What do I need to qualify? What will I eat after weigh in? Why do I do this to myself?

As I write this I know I need to slow it down and remember how hard I have worked. The blood, sweat, and tears that I have put into the barbell. On that day we will work together and I will succeed. You do not win medals with the work you did in training and I am ready to get on that platform and prove to myself what I am made of. This week will be filled with laughs, smiles, and positive thoughts.

 The words I will keep in my mind:

 Speed, Strength, Confidence, Patience, Fun.

 I am strong. I am ready.
